St Patrick's NS is the proud holder of the Active School Flag (A.S.F.) since 2015/2016 academic year.
The A.S.F. is a department of Education and Skills initiative supported by Healthy Ireland. It is awarded to schools that strive to achieve a physically educated and physically active school community. the process aims to get more schools, more active, more often.
As an Active School, our students have had the opportunity to participate in a diverse range of sporting activities including: Gaelic football, hurling, tag rugby, soccer, gymnastics, swimming, dance, basketball and unihoc. Our school has successfully implemented initiatives such as Walk on Wednesdays, Training Tuesdays, Drop Everything and Dance, the Edmonton Marathon and Cycle Safe.
D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything and Run) continues to be an enjoyable daily break from the classroom and we also run a Very Successful Active School Week on an annual basis.
Our A.S.F. Cake sale fundraiser's help us to ensure that we keep a stock of necessary P.E. Equipment.
One of the highlights to date for our A.S.F. school was the initial flag awarding ceremony which was attended by Joe Schmidt, a truly memorable and amazing occasion for everyone involved.
